Brand Spotlight | Now Foods

NOW Foods are one of our favourite brands at bemo.  They make great quality products at reasonable prices, they have world leading facilities and as their numerous awards show they are a great employer - in 2019 they were again awarded the "best place to work in the state of Illinois".   We love NOW products and we stock heaps of them!

Since 1968 NOW has been a leader in the natural health industry.   Back in the 1960's health foods were "obscure", and if you were an enthusiast you would definitely be categorised as a hippie!

During this time Elwood Richard started a small chain of health stores in Chicago.  His university research had focused on improving physical performance through the use of nutritional supplements, which provided his life-long love of nutrition and health foods.

To combat supermarkets, Elwood started his own manufacturing company to supply his own stores which enabled him to have control over product quality and cost.   Today NOW is still owned by the Richard family but has grown to become one of the largest and most recognisable quality brands  in natural health.  The story of how NOW foods grew is contained in the book; Beating the Odds.

With multiple manufacturing, distribution and testing facilities in the US and Canada, NOW foods head office remains in Chicago.   They are leaders in quality and safety and no distribute globally.  With a background in natural health, vitamins and supplements they have expanded into other areas such as pet health, (also available online at bemo).
